about holy ground

Holy Ground was founded and is led by the Reverend Betty Voigt.
Since childhood Betty has been attending to the ways God might want to use her life for the sake of others.  The journey has led her to social justice
ministry among the poor, pastoring of churches, one-on-one spiritual
companioning, leading of numerous spiritual formation and healing retreats.
Along side of, and just as important as this external work, however, has
been her own personal inner growth and healing.

The ministry of Holy Ground is the present day outgrowth of this journey… it’s purpose is to walk along side of and be a source of support and encouragement to all who are courageous enough to seek their own inner healing and growth and to discern and follow where God is leading them.  Betty offers to others spiritual companioning, a place for personal, guided silent retreats (Holy Ground Hermitage), and workshops and individual healing sessions based on the model of Gestalt Pastoral Care.

Betty’s education and training comes from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary (M.Div), the Shalem Institute for Spiritual Formation, and Gestalt Pastoral Care Associates. She is presently one of seven Associates who are teaching, leading retreats, and guiding the ministry of Gestalt Pastoral Care.  Green Bough House of Prayer, a contemplative community in Georgia, has been a support for her contemplative calling for almost twenty years.

Betty’s husband, Dave, is a strong and loving encourager and supports the ministry of Holy Ground with his gifts of hard work, craftsmanship, and woodworking. Together they have two grown children, two granddaughters and a step granddaughter.
Dave and Betty enjoy reading, traveling, hiking and biking.
