Holy Ground was founded by the Reverend Betty Voigt, a Minister of the Word and Sacrament in the Presbyterian Church (USA), called by God to a particular vocation of prayer and spiritual guidance. For the past 20 years she has led guided retreats in addition to her private practice of spiritual guidance. Betty is a facilitator in the Spiritual Formation Certificate Program at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, and an Associate of Green Bough House of Prayer, a contemplative community in Georgia, which supports her in her spiritual practices and ministry. She received her primary training in spiritual guidance from the Shalem Institute for Spiritual Formation in Bethesda, Maryland. In addition, Betty has been trained in discernment and the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius at the Loyola House in Guelph, Ontario, and in combining Gestalt Therapy, healing and spiritual direction by the Gestalt Pastoral Associates.

Prior to the pastoral ministry Betty developed and directed a non-profit program for disadvantaged children living in low-income housing projects.

Betty and her husband Dave have two grown children and three grandchildren.
